Social Inbox - LinkedIn & X Monitor ("we", "our", or "the extension") is a browser extension that helps users monitor and respond to posts from their favorite LinkedIn and X (Twitter) accounts. This privacy policy explains how our browser extension handles your data.

Data Collection and Storage

What We Collect

The extension collects and stores the following data locally in your browser:

  1. Favorite Accounts: LinkedIn and X (Twitter) usernames you choose to monitor
  2. Post Content: Posts from your favorite accounts including:
    • Post text
    • Author information
    • Timestamps
    • Engagement metrics (likes, comments)
    • Image URLs (not the images themselves)
  3. User Settings: Your preferences for check intervals and filters
  4. Reply Status: Whether you've replied to specific posts

What We DO NOT Collect

  • Passwords or authentication credentials
  • Personal messages or private content
  • Browsing history outside of LinkedIn/X
  • Any data from non-favorite accounts
  • Analytics or usage statistics

Data Storage

All data is stored locally using Chrome's storage API:

  • Data remains on your device
  • No external servers are used
  • No data is transmitted to third parties
  • Data is synced across your devices only if you're signed into Chrome with sync enabled

Data Usage

The collected data is used solely to:

  • Display posts from your favorite accounts
  • Track which posts you've read or replied to
  • Maintain your extension settings

Third-Party Access

We do not:

  • Share your data with third parties
  • Sell your data
  • Use external analytics services
  • Store data on external servers

Data Retention

  • Posts older than your configured age filter (1-7 days) are automatically deleted
  • Maximum of 100 posts stored at any time (configurable)
  • All data is removed when you uninstall the extension

Permissions

The extension requires certain permissions to function:

Required Permissions

  • Storage: To save your favorites and settings locally in Chrome's storage
  • Tabs: To open new tabs for viewing and replying to posts
  • Alarms: To periodically check for new posts and clean up old data
  • Scripting: To extract post content from LinkedIn and X pages you visit

Optional Host Permissions (You control these)

  • LinkedIn domains (https://www.linkedin.com/*, https://linkedin.com/*, https://media.licdn.com/*): To monitor LinkedIn profiles and extract post data
  • X/Twitter domains (https://twitter.com/*, https://x.com/*, https://pbs.twimg.com/*): To monitor X profiles and extract post data

Note: Host permissions are optional and only granted when you explicitly approve them. The extension will request these permissions when you first try to use features that require them.

Your Rights

You can:

  • View all stored data using the browser's developer tools
  • Clear all data using the "Clear All Posts" button
  • Remove individual favorite accounts at any time
  • Uninstall the extension to delete all data permanently

Children's Privacy

This extension is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.

Security

We implement the following security measures:
